Naturally Whiten Teeth At Home: How To Whiten Teeth With Turmeric

Turmeric powder is a gentle abrasive that can removing surface stains to reveal whiter teeth. Turmeric is naturally anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial which makes it a great choice for natural dental care.

1. Is turmeric good for teeth whitening?

Study showed that curcumin in turmeric can prevent gingivitis, or gum disease. It helped remove plaque, bacteria, and inflammation comparably well with traditional mouthwashes, when used properly.

Some compare turmeric’s teeth whitening effects to baking soda or activated charcoal for teeth whitening. It may have similar potential, but take more time than whitening strips, for example.

As of now, however, turmeric is not considered a solid replacement for medical cosmetic teeth whitening treatments. Nor can it be considered a replacement for general oral health care.

3. How does turmeric whiten your teeth?

It’s not the color of drinks/food that stain teeth, but the acidity that opens the pores in the tooth enamel which allows staining. Strong enamel does not stain! says Dr. Ellie Phillips.

I have been making a drink with lemon, turmeric, honey, pepper and hot water. I’m VERY careful with the turmeric because it stains my countertop. However, I have not noticed my teeth staining, but I worried about it, so I did some research.

3. Will drinking turmeric stain my teeth?

Ingredients:
1/4 teaspoon organic turmeric powder (where to buy organic turmeric)
1/8 teaspoon melted coconut oil (where to buy coconut oil)
Method:
1. Dip your toothbrush in the paste and brush teeth as normal, but instead of rinsing when you’re done allow the paste to sit on your teeth for 3-5 minutes so that it can do it’s magic.

2. Spit and rinse thoroughly, then follow with a second brushing using your regular tooth powder/toothpaste. If you notice any yellow around the corners of your mouth, wash with soap and it will rinse away. Likewise, if any turmeric powder is left on your teeth or gums it will cause a slight yellow tint, but when the turmeric is fully rinsed away you should notice a brighter, whiter smile. I personally think this homemade tooth soap is the most effective at removing the turmeric so you can see the results underneath.

If not, give it a few days to a week – if you’re skeptical I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Naturally Whiten Teeth At Home: How To Whiten Teeth with coconut oil and baking soda

  1. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening review
  2. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening before and after
  3. How to whiten teeth with coconut oil
Coconut oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal! Studies have shown that coconut oil destroys the bacteria that can cause tooth decay. The other primary ingredient in this toothpaste is baking soda. Baking soda is a very mild abrasive which aids in cleaning and whitening teeth, and restoring pH balance.

1. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening review

By Mere0322: Make your own

Applying this thick paste to your brush is nearly impossible and double dipping the scoop it came with is just gross. I decided to make my own, I used coconut oil, baking soda, peppermint extract and a little bit of olive oil to thin out the coconut oil. I warmed everything, mixed and put in a squeezy bottle. Wa-la, for pennies I have an easy to apply all natural toothpaste.

By Dan T: Love this product

Love this product, will be getting more. Wish it was a bit cheaper but still a great product. The benefits of coconut oil are real! Great for receding gum and/or fighting bacteria!

By Amazon Customer: Not a toothpaste for summertime

Its nice from what I have used. I have decided though, because it is so liquidy, and it is impractical for me to keep it in the fridge and then run downstairs to get my toothpaste each time I need to brush, I decided this would be my winter toothpaste. It does a good job of cleaning teeth, just not the right toothpaste for summertime.

2. Coconut oil and baking soda teeth whitening before and after

The color of your teeth is primarily determined by the color of your dentin, the layer under the enamel. Enamel is semi-transparent. So if the sublayer is yellow, your teeth will seem yellow.

“Whitening” your teeth requires the the pigmented oil soluble pigments that found their way deep into your enamel and dentin, to be broken down into water soluble, transparent materials. This can be accompanied by “oxidizing” them using something like hydrogen peroxide (actually it is the perhydroxyl ion, an ionized form of it that does the trick). This can be done in the dentist’s office or at home over time.

So, I would not rely on coconut oil and baking soda to “whiten my teeth”. A “normal” toothpaste (with a higher pH than baking soda) will be more abrasive and will remove more stains (under the same conditions) thereby “brightening” your teeth.

3. How to whiten teeth with coconut oil

Homemade Baking Soda and Coconut Oil Toothpaste Ingredients:
+ 1/2 tablespoons Coconut Oil
+ 2 tablespoons Baking Soda
+ 7-10 drops of Peppermint oil (optional)

Mix baking soda and coconut oil in a small container, until it forms a paste like consistency
Add several drops of peppermint oil and mix (*peppermint is optional)

Best Answer:1 -Brush your teeth as usual with a natural toothpaste or you can use the banana peel first and then brush.

-Use a ripe banana as it has the most potassium content in it. Peel from the bottom end as this is how monkeys peel their bananas and it will keep you from having all those loose threads.

-Gently rub on teeth

-Take a piece of the inside of the banana peel and gently rub around on your teeth for about 2 minutes.

*The amazing minerals in the peel like potassium, magnesium and manganese absorb into your teeth and whiten them.

-Repeat the same procedure at night or before bedtime, to whiten teeth. Leaving the banana peel on longer is optional if you have stains that need to come off.

*Do the banana peel routine twice daily.

Hope this helps, I'm workin on whitenin my teeth also! :)

Best Answer 2: Try rubbing a ripe banana peel on your teeth every day. Simply use the inside of a banana peel to massage your teeth for at least two minutes before brushing. You should see a stunning improvement in your smile in as little as two weeks.

That's a new one on me, I have sed a banana peel to clean shoes (it does) and shredded them around rose bushes for the potassium (I think!) but never rubbed my teeth with it - yet.
The strawberries listed on the link sound a nicer tasting idea.

3. Teeth whitening banana peel study

Here’s how to use banana peels to whiten your teeth. You’ll need one banana peel, a toothbrush and some toothpaste:
  • Rub the underside of the banana peel all over your teeth.
  • Once your teeth have been thoroughly rubbed, let the banana matter sit on your teeth for ten minutes. Keep your lips away from your teeth at this time, as you would if you were using traditional whitening solutions.
  • Use a dry toothbrush to work the banana into your teeth.
  • Brush the banana away with a wet toothbrush and some toothpaste, as you normally would
  • Repeat this process daily for several weeks

2. Can a banana clean your teeth

Bananas themselves contain nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and manganese, all of which contribute directly to a white smile and your overall health. Some people have seen results from banana peel whitening.

1. Banana teeth whitening before and after

Does it work? Well, I tried it, and while I'd love to tell you that it worked like a charm, it did not. Experts seem to agree: Dr. Darren Riopelle, a dentist in Denver, Colorado, tried the banana peel whitening system for himself, and after 14 days of rubbing banana peels on his teeth, his smile looked the same as when he began.
